My journey in education and tutoring began at 24 years old, working for an ed-tech startup in San Francisco that provided online tutoring through mobile devices. From the very beginning, I was drawn to the impact that personalized learning and mentorship could have on a student’s confidence, mindset, and long-term growth.
I later went on to manage a local center for a nationally recognized tutoring franchise, where I oversaw day-to-day operations, managed a staff of 20 tutors, and worked directly with students and families. During my time there, the center became a top 10% performer company-wide under my leadership. After earning my MBA from the University of Notre Dame and gaining additional corporate experience in consulting, I ultimately found myself drawn back to education and 1:1 tutoring work.
Now, after several years in the tutoring industry, I’m excited to bring everything I’ve learned into building Engaged Tutoring: a highly personalized academic support program centered around empathy, confidence-building, and individualized learning.
At Engaged Tutoring, I believe that the best tutoring goes far beyond improving grades or test scores. Every student deserves a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, working through academic anxieties, and building confidence in their abilities. Some of the most meaningful growth happens outside the academics themselves through mentorship, encouragement, accountability, and helping students develop a positive relationship with learning.
No two students learn the same way. That’s why every aspect of Engaged Tutoring is designed to be tailored to each student’s unique needs, strengths, and goals. My mission is not only to help students succeed academically, but to help them grow into confident, capable learners both inside and outside the classroom.
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring National Parks with my wife and dog; going to Warriors, Giants, and 49ers games; taking advantage of free museum days; and sampling non-alcoholic beers.

The inspiration behind the Engaged Tutoring logo is my standard poodle, Champ. After being rescued from the streets, Champ quickly revealed himself to be incredibly intelligent, curious, and full of personality. His resilience inspires me every day to champion the success of others, both inside and outside the classroom.
Champ represents the heart of Engaged Tutoring: empathy, encouragement, confidence-building, and creating a welcoming environment where students feel supported as they grow. He especially loves meeting new people and would be thrilled to stop by and introduce himself to any interested students!
